The monodrama Croatian God Mars, which we renamed Croation God on Mars, is based on motifs from the works of Miroslav Krleža - his play In the camp, short story Barracks Five B, and the song Europe 1942.
Explanation: an intellectual disappointed in life on this world, decides to put his foot down (Pede libero) and simply say ’no’, ready to create life on a new and just planet. In this process, he starts a new world on a new planet, indicatively and rather ominously, called Mars, after the Roman God of war. As those around him revolt and seeing that he is unable to live true to himself, his world views and moral standings, he begins his rebellion as well. With intellect as his weapon, he tries to solve the mystery of war, and find the answers in himself  to the questions war leaves in its bloody aftermath.  While searching for a person to talk to among the audience, he relentlessly examines his own self, sensations and feelings, followed by the sorrowful sound of two guitars.
Enraged by the powerlessness of humans, he rebels, so that in the end he finds the strength to speak from his heart, to say a firm ’no’ to human greed and stupidity, which  perpetuate the bloody cycle of human destruction and slaughter, where the individual alone, still cannot win.
Since Krleža is one of those timeless writers, his thoughts easily bring to mind our own chaotic world; we are tormented by the same questions and we seek the same answers - how to resist pressure and find those tiny shreds of humanity in a morally decayed world. Our authors will try to engage the audience into searching for the answers together in Krleža’s glorious poetry, through his brilliant song Europe 1942.
