THE FIRST DAY OF THE FESTIVAL

After the opening ceremony took place, the competition programe of the 41st Festival of Monodrama and Mime began. The first play was Actor, Say Something Funny directed and performed by Irfan Mensur. Mensur explores the perspectives of the actors’ trade, plays with the details and theatrical motifs. He speaks of personal values which rule artists’ lives, and illustrates the integral parts of acting.

The next play, ZiP iT, performed by mime duo Lilja Fredrikson and Ana Stanišić, gives us a story about the intricacies of love, trust and life. The third play of the day, Croatian God on Mars, is a duodrama by The 4th Wall Theatre from Croatia, based on Miroslav Krleža’s work, his play In the Camp, his short story Barracks Five B and his song Europe 1942. This play questions the role of war, the modern world and its problems, from the point of view of a disgruntled man struggling with his own inner demons. The honorary plaques of the Festival were awarded by Milorad Jovanović, Assistant General Manager.
