About the play
This is an easygoing, merry and light comedy of character, starring the spectacular Ljubomir Bandović as the one and only ‘Ponjava’– ex-tire repairman, sympathizer and self-proclaimed intellectual. He is a sloppy chronicler, biased historian and a local loudmouth to boot. This is what the director of the play, Dušan Premović, had to say about it: ‘This play originated as a tribute to all of those unnamed, everyday people, our hopelessly naïve citizens, and at times, ourselves. To us, who have spent our lives avoiding what we should be doing in life, doing everything else instead. To all of us who have dealt with histories long forgotten, the great turning points of the past, mesmerized by it we stood at our own lives’ crossroads … least dealing with what is here, in front of us: our own being, our lives and minding our own business.’

Ljubomir Bandović
Ljubomir Bandović graduated from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade in the class of professor Vladimir Jevtović. He started his professional career in 1995 and has played in more than 60 theatre plays since. He has won many prestigious, local and regional, awards (‘Zoran Radmilović’ Award at the Sterijino pozorje festival, ‘Zoranovi brkovi’ Award at the festival ‘Dani Zorana Radmilovića’ in Zaječar, ‘Ivo Serdar’ Award at the Days of Satire Festival in the Kerempuh Satyrical Theatre in Zagreb, ‘Veljko Maričić’ Award at the International Small Scenes Theatre Festival in Rijeka, ‘Petar Kočić’ Award at the Theatre Fest in Banja Luka).
Along with his theatre career, he appeared in a number of theatrical films, TV films, TV shows and short films. In 2012 he won the Grand Prix ‘Naisa’ Award at the 46th Film Encounters Niš for his performance in the feature film ‘The Sisters’. He has been a member of Yugoslav Drama Theatre since 2000. He lives and works in Belgrade.
